What You Can Do to Raise Awareness
-
Display signs and bumper stickers on your vehicle that promote the right of unborns to carpool.
-
Talk to other expectant mothers. Let your friends know about the movement, or talk to other pregnant women you see on the street or in the store. Take literature to your childbirth and prenatal classes.
-
Write to your legislators and let them know about the ongoing legal struggle and the need to get laws on the books that support a woman’s right to count her unborn child as a carpool passenger. Target family-friendly lawmakers, but let them know that this is also an important transportation issue.
-
Organize carpool convoys with other pregnant mothers. Pick one day a week to drive your vehicles en masse - one pregnant mother per car - through carpool lanes during the commute hour. This is especially effective if you have to go through a toll booth – twenty vehicles in a row will overwhelm the toll taker and force the regulating agency to take notice.
